The ayah

And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allāh, and remember Allāh often that you may succeed.

Prayer, then the market, in one verse. It ends on tuflihun, from the same root as the falah the adhan calls you to.

Meta releases Muse Spark Open weights, 816B parameters, 1M context

3 min read · Meta · 2026-10-15

Meta released the weights of Muse Spark Open, a multimodal model with 816B total parameters, 42B active, and a 1M-token context window, built for coding and agents. It runs on two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios. The weights come under the Muse Model License, which has limited commercial terms.

For you: Read the licence's commercial limits before you build a paid product on it. Hosted APIs will be cheaper than two Mac Studios.

2 min read · Inc42 · 2026-10-16

SEBI issued its final observations on Cult.fit's offer documents on October 12, three months after its July DRHP. The IPO pairs a fresh issue of up to ₹950 Cr with an offer for sale, and sources put the total near ₹4,000 Cr. FY26 net loss narrowed to ₹251.8 Cr on revenue of ₹1,720.6 Cr.

For you: Public markets are paying for gyms with 708 centres and a narrowing loss. Franchise-heavy physical networks can exit, not just apps.

Cloudflare open-sources Void: Vite apps become Workers apps

5 min read · Cloudflare Blog · 2026-10-15

Cloudflare announced three open-source products from VoidZero: Void Platform, Void SDK and Void CLI. Void turns a Vite app into a full-stack Cloudflare Workers app, provisioning databases, queues and AI bindings from imports at deploy time. The pitch is internal apps built with coding agents, without handing every employee cloud access.

For you: Try it on one internal tool this week. A self-hosted platform keeps cloud keys off every laptop in your team.

AI products run 52% margins, so Zoho freezes hiring 18 months

5 min read · Inc42 · 2026-10-16

Inc42 traces how AI is raising the cost of running software. ICONIQ's 2026 data puts AI product gross margins near 52% against an 80% SaaS benchmark. Zoho's Sridhar Vembu says server prices rose 4-5X in a year, and Zoho will freeze headcount for 18 months and cut marketing.

For you: Price AI features by usage, not per seat, and track token spend per customer before margins slip 12 to 17 points.

India will show callers' names on 4G and 5G from November 1

4 min read · MediaNama · 2026-10-16

A DoT circular dated October 13 orders operators to display callers' registered names by default on 4G and 5G from November 1, 2026, with no opt-out. Only CLIR holders, restricted since 2015 to VIPs and officials, can hide their name. Businesses may show a trademark or GST trade name instead.

For you: If you cold-call customers from a personal SIM, your KYC name shows. Register a GST trade name as your preferred display.

For you: If you sell in Pakistan, accept Raast QR now. The uneven part is government payments, still only 34% digital by value.

For you: Indian rounds shrank while seed money across Asia grew 22%. If you are raising, pitch the AI angle at seed.

Organic growth that speeds up on its own

Trust compounds. Slow years of word of mouth turn into fast years of signups.

Zerodha took six years to reach its first 100,000 customers and nine months for the next 100,000, all organic, with no marketing or advertising.

The move: Count how many new customers last month came from referrals. Ask each one who told them and thank that person.

The 40 percent very-disappointed test

Ask users how they would feel without your product. If 40 percent say very disappointed, you have fit.

Superhuman started at 22 percent in summer 2017. By segmenting to the users who loved it, the score reached 33 percent. After three quarters of focused work it hit 58 percent.

The move: Send one survey question to recent active users: how would you feel if you could no longer use this? Count the very disappointed share.

Nirma's price wedge

Price far below the leader with a product that does the job, and you open a mass market the leader ignored.

Nirma detergent, started in 1969 by chemist Karsanbhai Patel, sold at Rs 3.50 per kg when HUL's Surf cost Rs 13. By 1985 it was among India's most popular detergents.

The move: Work out your price per use against the biggest competitor. If it is under half, put that comparison in your first line.

The $600 local magazine ad

Fish where the fish are. A small, rich, local audience can beat broad reach.

A decorative concrete company pays $600 a month for an ad in a magazine sent to 7,000 wealthy homes in Georgia. In three months it made $75,000.

The move: Ask your three best customers which local magazine, group or newsletter they read, and price one ad there.

Friction: the simplest thing is difficult

Small delays, misreadings and tiredness pile up between a plan and its result. Plan for the drag, not just the route. Take one plan due this week. Add a third more time, and name the two small things most likely to slip. At Longewala in 1971 the attacking tanks tried to deploy from a single track, bogged down in soft ground and were picked off from the air.

The victory

Friday, 14 February 1556, in the town of Kalanaur. Word has reached the camp that Humayun is dead, and the officers there do not wait. They raise his son to the throne. Ferishta gives the boy's age to the month: thirteen years and nine months. Bairam is made regent, given the title Khan-Khanan, and called Khan Baba in letters. He holds the control of affairs. The boy has a throne and very little else yet. His name is Akbar, and that Friday is where his reign begins.

The push

Prayer done, the verse says, now go and seek. This week, pick one thing from Build and run it by Friday: the survey or the referral count. Expect friction, and give it a third more time. Akbar began with a throne and little else. Start anyway. Go.
